Filming Preparations
I took numerous steps in preparing for the filming date. First, I had to reconfigure some of the settings in my camera application. I made sure to that the resolution was 1080p, and that I was using the proper codec. Since my phone was running low on storage, I had to delete the footage from my previous projects and also delete some applications that I haven’t really used. This is because the codec I decided to use, apple prores422HQ, takes up significant storage. The main reason I decided to reuse this codec was because, despite its size, it has very good image quality and editing performance. I also decided that I would use my iPad as a way to remote control and monitor the camera. After some research, I learned how to pair an iPad to a recording device via local Wi-Fi. This allows another person to be able to monitor and adjust settings, while the other is physically holding the camera. This makes it easier to make adjustments and monitor the camera, since the screen is much larger and is independent of the camera. I also charged my power bank, which I decided to bring just in case my phone battery runs out. Filming consumes battery rather quickly, and I thought it would be wise to have a backup. I also decided to bring some wireless lamps to act as adjustable lighting in case we need it. The lamps act as soft, warm lighting that can easily be held by someone on set. I also decided to bring my half-broken tripod just in case, but I figured the image stabilization would be sufficient enough to not need it. I also prepared by black rain jacket in case I play the role of the mysterious figure. I also had to free up storage on my computer, since I had only 8gb remaining. I had to uninstall a few games to free up space in preparation for the editing process. In the meantime, I figured out what was the issue I had with my monitor when color grading the music video. It turns out that I had modified the way colors are displayed within the display’s firmware and forgot to change it back to default when I finished. The issue was fortunately easy to fix, and now the colors are accurate displayed.
