Planning Blog: Title Design

Font: For our font options, we have decided between using Bodoni MT and Copperplate Gothic Light.  

Color: The color of the title will be white, which will match with the outside setting in the beginning. It will have a 3D/shadow effect which will help ensure the title is legible.


Size: The size of the titles will vary, but they shouldn’t be too large as it could take away from the suspense. The more important titles, however, may be larger. They should be noticed by the audience but not enough to completely grab their attention.

Working Title: Our working title for the film is Uninvited. 


How will the titles (the words) enter and leave the screen? 
The titles will enter and leave the screen in correlation to the setting and camera movement. They will have a glitch effect, hinting towards the supernatural things that are occurring. 

How long will each title be on the screen before it disappears? 
Each title will be on the screen for varying times depending on how long the title is, as well as its importance. The titles will be on screen for 4-8 seconds.

      Fusion page in DaVinci Resolve      Using titles in Davinci Resolve is something I have never done before, so I did some research before starting. I naturally turned to YouTube and picked up the basics rather quickly. However, I felt that 2d titles on a screen would be quite plain, so I tried to challenge myself to create 3 dimensional titles that are fixed within space. To see if such a thing is even possible using Resolve, I did some research and found that it is indeed possible using the fusion tab in resolve. Fusion in Resolve is a node based vfx tool, which means the image is passed through a series of nodes before reaching the output. The main node that I would use is called the planar tracker.
