Planning Blog: Script

Scene 1: Sidewalk  

Fade in. 

Pan following SADIE walking home from school. 

The soundtrack can be heard from SADIE’s headphones. 

A title appears in the background. 

Establishing shot shows the house as SADIE walks up the driveway. 

 

Scene 2: Entrance to the house 

Wide shot shows SADIE entering the house.  

Shot reverse shot between Dad and SADIE. 

Dad: “How was school?” 

SADIE: “Good.” (unenthusiastically) 

Dad: “Would you like something to eat?” 

SADIE: “Sure. I’m gonna go to my room.” 

Dad: “I’ll be in the kitchen. I’ll call you when it’s done.” 

SADIE: “Alright.” 

 

Scene 3: Entering the bedroom 

SADIE steps towards the bedroom door, left ajar. 

SADIE: “Were you in my room? I closed the door when I left.” 

No response. 

SADIE opens the door slowly 

SADIE: “Hello?” (in a confused tone) 

 

Scene 4: Bedroom  

SADIE is shown from a low angle placing down her backpack. 

The lights begin to slightly flicker. 

SADIE sits down at the desk and places down a notebook.  

She hears a strange noise 

SADIE: “Dad? Is that you?” 

SADIE looks towards the door, then she glances back to the pages. 

An over the shoulder shot of the desk shows a strange message. 

Dissolve to the next scene. 

 

Scene 5: Bathroom 

Close up shot shows SADIE at sink. 

She washes her face and rubs her eyes.  

SADIE walks back to the bedroom. 

 

Scene 6: Bedroom 

SADIE sits down to continue her homework. 

The message on the desk is gone. 

She hears the strange noises again. 

SADIE: “What’s going on?” (somewhat annoyed) 

She stands and leaves for the kitchen.  

 

Scene 7: Kitchen 

Long shot of the kitchen shows the refrigerator door open as SADIE walks in.  

Sadie walks into the kitchen, with her dad nowhere to be found.  

The microwave starts beeping out of the blue. 

A shadowy figure appears at the window, not visible to Sadie.  

Sadie has a visible look of panic. 

 

Scene 8: Dining room 

A shot shows her sitting down at the dining table. 

Sadie tries to recollect herself, breathing heavily. 

A spooky figure is shown slowly approaching behind her. 

Sadie slowly turns her head and sees the figure. 

She immediately makes a terrified face. 

The scene cuts to black.
