Filming Blog Continued... Music Video

The tracking shot of the actor running was by far the most challenging shot. Over the span of 20 minutes I took 15+ takes of this shot. I originally planned to ride my bike and film at the same time. After multiple attempts, I was only able to get one decent shot this way, but the image was slightly tilted. I then tried running beside the actor, which was a shaky mess. Khamaree was able to get a decently framed shot doing this, but the actor was only jogging, not really running. In the end I had maybe two decent shots that could be improved upon. I also had trouble dialing in the exposure settings for the outdoor shots. I had no choice but to drastically increase the shutter speed, sacrificing motion blur. This is especially noticeable in the tracking shot.

For the swimming shot, I had to film lying prone on the edge of the pool. It was challenging to get the actor aligned with the camera and keep the phone from getting wet. I also had to ensure that none of the other people around the pool were in the shot. After four takes I finally got a shot I was happy with. The shot where the actor is tying their shoes was also challenging. This was because we had limited space to work with, which really cut down on possible camera movements. After reviewing the footage it was apparent that we had to retake some of the shots. Primarily the first scene and the sneaker shot, as the subject was too close to the top or bottom of the frame. Fortunately, we were able to refilm the shots on the same day, as we allocated enough time for that day. This time I ensured to keep the subject between the top and bottom third lines.
