My name is Robert Neagu. I was named after the chess player, Robert Fischer. Unfortunately, that doesn’t mean I am remotely proficient in chess. I am currently attending Fort Lauderdale high school in the 10th grade. I was born here in the United States, but my family is from Romania. I enjoy visiting Romania, I have lots of friends and family there, and the nature is very beautiful. Growing up in a Romanian household, I got exposed to a variety of traditional Romanian foods, as well as learning the Romanian language. Some of my favorite foods are Romanian, such as sarmale (stuffed cabbage), and ciorba de salata (lettuce soup). My main hobbies are playing piano and swimming, and martial arts, but I also have other side hobbies including 3d modeling and printing, cubing, and playing video games. I particularly enjoy 3d modeling, as you can create anything from scratch to solve a variety of practical problems, and then turn that model into a plastic part via 3d printing. I primarily use Fusion360 by Autodesk for this purpose. 3d modeling can be challenging, as you have to account for many parameters when designing a part for 3d printing. I enjoy the process of repeated trial and failure until I get the design right. More recently, I have started to learn how to use and program Arduinos, which are mini computers you can use to control various electronic components. I’ve had lots of fun making projects with Arduinos, as well as making custom 3d printed parts for them. I have been playing the piano for around seven years, I play a mix of classical music and more modern music. For the future, I want to improve my sight-reading skills for piano and learn music theory. Regarding video games, I like playing realistic simulator games like BeamNG, a vehicle simulation sandbox game, and Microsoft flight simulator. I am currently learning French. Knowing the Romanian language has been particularly useful in this endeavor, as both Romanian and French are romance languages, and therefore share similar structure and some vocabulary.
